Product Safety Recalls
"Americans demand top-quality service from the private sector. They should get the same top-quality service from their government." -- President George W. Bush
President Bush has asked all federal agencies to streamline communications with the public and improve interagency information sharing in order to enhance public security.
Therefore, to provide better service in alerting the American people to unsafe, hazardous or defective products, six federal agencies with vastly different jurisdictions have joined together to create www.recalls.gov -- a "one stop shop" for U.S. Government recalls.

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC)
Many of the recalls listed by the Consumer Product Safety Commission have nothing to do with our service as a Home Inspector; nonetheless, they may involve defective products that could be injurious or fatal to your family and friends.

Here’s a current one that affects many of us:
During February ’07, 2.3 MILLION dishwashers manufactured under the brand names Maytag© or Jenn-Air© and sold from July 1997 through June 2001 have been recalled due to a fire hazard.
Go to http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml07/07094.html to see if your machine is included. If it is, DISCONNECT THE POWER TO YOUR MACHINE AND DO NOT USE IT UNTIL IT IS REPAIRED OR REPLACED.
The manufacturer offers free in-home repair, or a $75 cash back reimbursement following the purchase of a new Maytag®, Jenn-Air®, Whirlpool® or KitchenAid® dishwasher.
